But you said it all save for considering this question… Apart from the Virus: how truly “bad” is Snow Crash’s dystopia when you place it in the context of our current reality and the sum of human history?

You raise an excellent point--while our current dystopia may seem more comfortable than historical examples, the greater concern lies in the longer term impacts, and the potential digital panopticon we're creating for ourselves. We'll explore these themes more deeply in future posts.
